Haxey Parish & Archaeology Weekend
Vermuyden 400
Shaping the Isle, Shaping History
Haxey Parish Archaeology & History Weekend
11th & 12th of July 2026!!!
Are you and your children interested in history & archaeology? As part of the Vermuyden 400 project, Haxey Parish Council & Axholme Archaeological are running an archaeology weekend on the 11th & 12th of July.
We are asking for parents and children to excavate a one square metre pit in their garden. You do not require any special tools. Garden spades and trowels will do. Any finds such as pottery, brick, bone, metal and interesting rocks can be placed in a plastic freezer bag with a label showing the name and address and taken to Haxey Village Hall on the afternoon of Sunday the 12th of July for identification by local archaeologists and historians!
We will also have on display a large selection of finds from around the parish and further attractions. This will be a great experience for adults and children and will no doubt be an inspiring weekend celebrating our rich heritage.
